Sales figures? Who cares about those. We need to gauge success through tweets and mentions.
Here’s some brain bleach

this is a criminal misuse of data.

At least it isn’t one of those maps that show what each state likes more than other states (ignoring that what they like most is the same pretty much everywhere).

Oh, it’s a good point. More “trending on Twitter” nonsense.
OTOH, though, Tesla’s US sales were down significantly Q3 versus year prior. All indications are that Q4 will see the same trend. US market in total last year for EVs exceeded 380,000K units. It will take some serious channel-stuffing to get the market to 340K units this year... Which explains the Electrek piece this AM about Tesla “pulling out all the stops” to move every last inventory unit they can this month.
The Early Adopter effect will be interesting to see in 2020. The market definitely needs the long-delayed CUV from somebody to keep the Early Adopters buying .

Ah, partcatalog.com, where I go for all the hottest, most relevant news.
Companies’ PR departments love to compile goofy infographics like this in order to get their company on bigger/related websites. Occasionally, there’s one that’s good (one on average car payments was a little nuts), but most are just stupid.
Worse yet are the PR people who love to push these. I’ll get like two or three emails from someone asking “I just wanted to reach out to
you again” or “Have you looked over our graphic yet
on how many times people search for Ford Explorers, by state
?” The radio silence should tell you something, as should the actual content I write up (read: stuff that isn’t this!)
. Do a better job at PR, please.

Why is the source of the data a floor mat retailer? I don’t see a blog or anything on their site to indicate their are a viable source of any type of industry data .

Quoting a source and quoting a reputable source or even an actual source of data are very different things.
